Amanda Seyfried is once again switching gears, this time tackling Seth MacFarlane‘s sophomore effort, the Western satire A Million Ways to Die in the West.
Actually, the pornstar biopic Lovelace actress is the latest name to join Charlize Theron in a Blazing Saddles-style picture set in the 1800s that will follow a sheepish farmer (MacFarlane) whose girlfriend (Seyfried) leaves him when he backs out of a gunfight. Then he meets the wife (Theron) of a notorious outlaw who teaches him how to shoot, and he seeks to win back his love.
MacFarlane co-wrote A million Ways with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (Ted) with the production aiming to start in May, though the film doesn't currently have a release date.
Both Seyfried and Theron have the comic sensibilities and it seems Farlane is developing an interesting pattern of pairing older male characters with younger women.
Seyfried has recently completed work on ensemble comedy The Big Wedding, and she, questionably, joined the cast of the romantic comedy Wonderful Tonight with Patrick Dempsey.
Any thoughts?
Western comedies don’t have a great track record and MacFarlane might not be the right actor for this role, but it sounds like an interesting project.
Seyfried didn’t finish filming The Big Wedding recently, it was completed in the summer of 2011 and had it’s original October 2012 release delayed until April. Wonderful Tonight was announced, but it appears that it has fallen apart. Seyfried didn’t mention it on the Les Mis press tour when asked about upcoming projects.
