Old jowly jaws just won’t give up on those action films will he? Despite bearing absolutely no resemblance to anything other than the saggy looking sixty something he is, Stallone is on another mission to get all athletic and action orientated with news of a possible return to his 1993 climbing antics in a sequel to ‘Cliffhanger’ called ‘The Dam’.
Given the fact that the action genre has visited most man made structures from sewers to skyscrapers with the odd airport thrown in for good measure, I reckon it’s time we gave the humble dam a shot don’t you?
Sly is currently in talks with Sony to dig out the ropes and pitons, and going on the back of his recent promise to make more action films, I’d suspect this might well see the light of day.
You know, I didn’t mind ‘Cliffhanger’ one bit. Stallone was the monosyllabic mountain goat that pranced all over the mountains, moping about some girl he fails to save in a climbing incident until he’s roped in (ha! ha!) by a gang of crooks to recover the cash from a mid air heist gone wrong. It was around the time that stereotypical Oxford educated bad lads were very much in vogue in Hollywood and John Lithgow more than delivered the goods in this department as the despicable Eric Qualen. Some of the bottom twitching aerial scenes came across well as well.
Not sure what Stallone is going to look like these days dangling around on a bit of string with nowt but a vest and an ice axe to cover his dignity. I’ll guess I’ll make a call on that one after seeing his antics in ‘Rambo’.
