Online rumor mill fueled by Latino Review's sources is saying that Arnold Schwarzenegger will play the ‘bad guy human general' who will cause trouble for Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and the rest of the Na'vi in the first Avatar sequel.
It makes sense, however, since Arnold and James made the box office hits together – Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and True Lies. That's a pretty magical run if the latest rumor proves to be true.
This is unconfirmed as there has not been any official word from 20th Century Fox, but the studio had announced that Cameron had increased the Avatar sequels from two to three pictures which will be filmed simultaneously with production beginning next year.
Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno will collaborate with Cameron on the scripts for the three films – Friedman is writing Avatar 2, Jaffa and Silver are writing Avatar 3 and Salerno is working on Avatar 4. The release of the first sequel should be in theaters in December 2016, with Avatar 3 to follow in December 2017, and Avatar 4 a year later.
It is believed that they will further explore the alien terrain of Pandora; the first sequel would involve its oceans, while the second would explore its orbit and Moon; Cameron has stated that the third would be a prequel and follow the Na'vi before humans discovered Pandora.
Schwarzenegger has already stated that he'll be on board the new Terminator film trilogy, which is slated for release in July 2015.
Can you picture the Austrian bodybuilder turned movie star turned Governor turned back into an actor again, stomping around Pandora?
