Columbia Pictures has released a new poster for a movie that I’m anticipating with more-than-usual interest: David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Based on the international bestseller by late Swedish author Stieg Larsson, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was adapted by Steven Zaillian (Moneyball).
The film will star Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik, Alexandra Daddario and Goran Visnjic.
Here’s the plot synopsis for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
One fateful day several years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared off the secluded island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger family. There was no corpse, no witnesses and no evidence. Nearly forty years later, investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) reluctantly accepts the unusual and seemingly unsolvable assignment of finding out what really happened to Harriet. Genius hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Mara) is drawn into the case and the two form a fragile alliance as they dig into the sinister past of the Vangers and find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves and each other.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will arrive in theaters December 21st, 2011.
