Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen In Talks For GODZILLA
The new big-budget Godzilla reboot from Legendary Pictures has been having a hard time lately with the producers, script and the actors who have publicly passed on the lead role. Well, while the studio awaits a Frank Darabont rewrite, they enter talks with the indie darling Elizabeth Olsen and Argo star Bryan Cranston to co-star.
Last month producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee were being ousted by the studio, and Frank Darabont was brought on to tackle a rewrite of Drew Pearce‘s screenplay, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been offered the lead, but the actor turned it down. Finally, Aaron Taylor-Johnson got the same offer, but hasn't responded in almost a month.
Or is it just business as usual with tentpoles, films which lend themselves to sequels or spinoffs?
No details on Cranston and Olsen's characters are known as everything about the movie is being kept under wraps. What is certain is that no one is signing until they see the latest script from Darabont. However, Heat Vision says Cranston would play Johnson's character's step-father and Olsen would play Johnson's girlfriend.
Gareth Edwards, best known for the 2010 Monsters, is directing the film, which is heading towards a March production start and Warners will release the film May 16th, 2014.
Excited?
