The last time we talked about Disney's upcoming
Cinderella, we
reported that
Richard Madden is officially on board as… well, the handsome prince, who else? Now comes the word that lovely
Holliday Grainger is in some serious talks to join the project as well, and if negotiations with
The Borgias star work out – she will jump in to play one of Cinderella's beautiful but mean stepsisters.
So, as we previously reported,
Kenneth Branagh is on board to direct a live-action reimagining of the classic fairy tale from a script written by
Aline Brosh McKenna and
Chris Weitz.
And you already know what the whole thing is about –
once upon a time there lived an unhappy young girl, and stuff like that.
So far (beside Madden),
Cinderella cast includes
Lily James in the title role and
Cate Blanchett as her evil stepmother.
Now, thanks to
TheWrap, we know that Grainger is making a deal to play one of Cinderella's beautiful but mean stepsisters who constantly ridicules the protagonist.
And that's pretty much all we know about the project at this moment. Let us also add that Allison Shearmur, David Barron and Simon Kinberg are producing the project, which starts production this fall.
As usual – for more updates – make sure you stay tuned!
