Damon Lindelof to Adapt LEFTOVERS for HBO
Damon Lindelof is one busy man. He's all about (producing) Star Trek Into Darkness these days, but the good thing is that there's apparently still room for his Leftovers adaptation.
We've just learned that HBO has ordered the drama to pilot, which means that the adaptation of Tom Perrotta's novel is about to become Lindelof's first TV series project since Lost.
At this moment we know that Lindelof is set to co-write Leftovers together with Perrotta, and that HBO will produce the project alongside WBTV. Tom Perrotta will also executive produce with Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger.
In case you're not so familiar with the novel, let us just inform you that Stephen King described it as a story “…that examines how ordinary people react to extraordinary and inexplicable events, the power of family to hurt and to heal, and the unobtrusive ease with which faith can slide into fanaticism.”
Published in May, Leftovers follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton, where they must begin to rebuild their lives after the sudden and mysterious disappearance of more than 100 people.
Sounds like an interesting project, we'll keep an eye on it!
