Following the 13-second video, 20th Century Fox has released the first teaser trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to its hit 2011 franchise reboot.
The first trailer for the new installment is also short, teasing the coming war between man and ape that will likely be at the heart of the film, a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Written by Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, and Mark Bomback, the story takes place 15 years after the first film and finds Caesar (Andy Serkis) attempting to assert his dominance over a growing nation of genetically evolved apes while a small human colony struggles to survive in San Francisco. The survivors attempt to make peace with him, but eventually things go awry paving the way for war.
Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11th, 2014 also starring Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-Mcphee, Enrique Muriciano and Kirk Acevedo.
