Chris Elliott, J.K. Simmons Join Untitled Hugh Grant Comedy
Chris Elliott (There's Something About Mary) and J.K. Simmons (Juno) will join writer/director Marc Lawrence's yet untitled romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant with Marissa Tomei, Bella Heathcote and Allison Janney.
Grant's latest venture into the rom-com genre finds his character as a screenwriter who, thanks to an Academy Award for Best Screenplay, was on top of the world in 1998. Meanwhile, fifteen years later, his creativity has disappeared along with his wife and money, so he takes a job teaching screenwriting on the East Coast. He expects to make some easy money and maybe find some easy co-eds, but doesn't predict finding romance with a single mom, played by Tomei, who has gone back to school.
Simmons and Elliott will play Chairman of the University's English department, and Shakespeare professor, respectively.
The comedy marks the fourth team-up between Lawrence and Grant and will begin shooting in New York in April.
Simmons recently finished filming the Andrew Fleming-directed comedy Barefoot, while Elliott has been playing on ‘How I Met Your Mother,' and starring on the Adult Swim series ‘Eagleheart.'
