What do you think the world will be like in 2154? Here’s an answer: Matt Damon is (still) living on Earth, while Jodie Foster is safe & sound on the space station. And this brand new Japanese trailer for Elysium is definitely worth your full attention. Why? Well, because it gives us a much better look at a ravaged Earth and a luxurious space habitat. Simple as that, head inside to check it out!
Written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, the film takes place on both overpopulated, ruined Earth and a luxurious space station, and revolves around an ordinary (and desperate) guy named Max who’s trying to get to Elysium.

In other words – Damon’s character is dying and he wants to get there ’cause they have health care, so (quite logically) he takes on a dangerous mission:
…one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt and her hard-line forces. But if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
Beside Damon and Foster, the rest of Elysium cast includes Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and is set to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013.
