Emily Blunt Won’t Play Peggy Carter In Captain America

Peggy Carter and Captain America

Emily Blunt has turned down the female love interest part of Peggy Carter in an upcoming Hollywood project that we already talked about The First Avenger: Captain America. The audition for this role included three British actresses: Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Blunt, but now it's official, Blunt passed on this role! As you all know by now, the film has already suffered some casting issues, but the search for the female role continues. There are already rumors that Knightley is not in talks anymore, as well. So now the big question is – who will play Peggy Carter, a freedom fighter with the French Resistance who fights next to Captain America during World War II, and then falls in love with him? When it comes to Blunt, we know she's starring with Matt Damon in The Adjustment Bureau, but she definitely won't be starring with Chris Evans and the Captain America gang. There are also some speculations that Blunt is close to signing on to other projects, and it seems she has caught Christopher Nolan's eye, and the role Nolan has set for her could be Selena Kyle, the infamous Catwoman! And let's face it – this actress definitely has the power to play this kind of seductive woman! On the other hand, the turning down of the role is probably a good move for Emily Blunt, and this could also mean that she wants to avoid big productions after The Wolfman experience. And we all know that in Hollywood, it's not just about the roles you accept, but it's also about the one you refuse, so maybe this is a good choice for this young British actress, that we all remember from movies like The Devil Wears Prada and My summer of Love which was her first major film role that garnered critical acclaim. Anyway, there's still no information about the leading female role, so we'll just have to wait and see who will be next Peggy Carter. Looks like guys from Marvel are back into the casting pool, so stay tuned!

I think it was a dumb move on Emily Blunt’s part. I hope Knightly is smart enoguh to take it. I think Blunt turned down the role becuase Krasinski was rejected for Captain America. AS for catwoman, Blunt wuuld be a total miscast.
