By 1857, the Charles Dickens' marriage was allegedly a loveless one when he met the 18-year-old Shakespearean actress Ellen ‘Nelly' Ternan. Dickens was 45.
Well, Claire Tomalin's acclaimed non-fiction book
The Invisible Woman tells the story of Dickens' secret love affair that
Ralph Fiennes is set to make as his directorial follow-up to Coriolanus.
Fiennes has been said to have met with Carey Mulligan, Imogen Poots, Abbie Cornish and
Felicity Jones as for the leading lady to portray Nelly, who was half the age of the celebrated author. Felicity, who worn the Breakthrough Actor of the Year prize at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York, beats them all!
Daniel Day-Lewis and
Ben Whishaw were reportedly being courted to play Dickens last year in the upcoming project written by The Iron Lady scribe
Abi Morgan.
Felicity Jones, the new face of Burberry has co-starred in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's feature Cemetery Junction, then in rom-com Chalet Girl, and next appears opposite Anton Yelchin in the indie drama Like Crazy.
Jones is also about to begin work with Warren Beatty on long gestating Howard Hughes biopic, a film about a young woman who had an affair with Howard Hughes towards the end of his life.
Shooting on The Invisible Woman is due to begin in late spring or early summer 2012. Stay tuned.
