First Look: Chan-wook Park’s STOKER with Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska

Stoker The wait for the first footage from Chan-wook Park’s English-language debut, Stoker, feel almost unbearably long. Filming began in Nashville, Tennessee in September 2011 and now the wait is over as Entertainment Tonight has scored an early look at the upcoming thriller, starring Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode, Nicole Kidman, Dermot Mulroney, Jacki Weaver, Alden Ehrenreich and Lucas Till. The film opening March 1st, 2013 and we guess this scenes are from a trailer which will hit next week. Based on this brief montage of snippets Park delivered what we’ve come to expect from the Wentworth Miller-penned script – a blend of horror and drama with Park’s distinctive visual eye. Family drama Stoker follows the story of an eccentric teen, India (Wasikowska), whose enigmatic and estranged uncle (Goode) returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father. Kidman plays a recently widowed mother and I can’t wait to see more from the film, which is influenced by Alfred Hitchcock‘s Shadow of a Doubt. After India’s father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother. Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
