Ava DuVernay (I Will Follow) became the first African-American woman to win the Best Director for her second feature film
Middle of Nowhere.
Now the first trailer is here with the film planned to release on October 12th, 2012.
DuVernay's film chronicles a woman who loses her husband to incarceration and loses herself in the process, caught between two worlds and two men.
DeVernay said earlier this year:
