In the indie film
For Ellen,
Paul Dano shows that he has acting talent to spare for a character of a young father we haven't met yet.
This trailer starts out with Joby Taylor (Dano) losing control of his car and sliding into a snow drift; then we seem to flash back to where his attorney is telling him that he gets the rights to the house for signing over the rights to his estranged six year-old daughter, and though it doesn't sit well with him, he takes a trip to see his daughter Ellen (
Shaylenda Mandigo).
When asked why he hasn't come to see her before, he blames it on the band trying to ‘make it.' Ellen asks him if he's ‘made it' yet. It's hard to tell from the trailer whether or not this is going to have a happy ending, but be forewarned that you'll need to have a box of tissues close by as you're moved by sensitive films.
Debuting at Sundance earlier this year, For Ellen co-stars
Jon Heder, Jena Malone, Dakota Johnson, and
Margarita Levieva.

For Ellen opens on September 5th, 2012 in New York and then it's on VOD September 19th.
