Fox to Adapt Mr. Men for Animated Feature, Shawn Levy to Produce
Shawn Levy again! Only this time, Twentieth Century FOX Animation is teaming with Levy for a big-screen adaptation of Roger Hargreaves' beloved Mr. Men illustrated children's books.
According to the latest reports, no director or screenwriter is currently attached to the project, but we definitely expect to hear more about this project as soon as possible.
It won't be the first adaptation the series has seen. Four animated TV series' precede this movie and this one's going to the big screen.
Mr. Men is a series of 48 children's books by Roger Hargreaves started in 1971; they feature characters with names such as “Mr. Tickle” and “Mr. Happy.”
Little Miss is an accompanying series of 42 books by the same author with female characters that started in 1981.
After Hargreaves' death in 1988, his son, Adam Hargreaves, began writing and illustrating new stories involving the “Mr. Men” and “Little Miss” characters, including the creation of ten new characters, four of which were inspired by work Roger Hargreaves had produced before his death.
