Gemma Arterton Joins Michael Mann’s Capa
Gemma Arterton has joined the cast of director Michael Mann‘s Robert Capa biopic.
And what a lucky man Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) is!
Not only he will play in the upcoming Spiderman reboot, but he will also have a chance to portray Capa, Hungarian combat photographer who covered five wars over the course of his career.
Or, let's take a look at the more detailed story:
“Love, war and photography marked the real-life romance between the war photographers Robert Capa and Gerda Taro during the Spanish Civil War. They were young, anti-Fascist, good-looking, and nonconformist. They had everything in life, and they put everything at risk.
They created their own legend and remained faithful to it until the very end! A young German woman named Gerta Pohorylle and a young Hungarian man named Endre Friedmann meet in Paris in 1935.
Both Communists, Jewish, exiled, and photographers, they decide to change their names in order to sell their work more easily, and so they become Gerda Taro and Robert Capa. With these new identities, they travel to Spain and begin to document the Spanish Civil War. Two years later, tragedy will befall them – but until then, theirs is a romance for the ages.”
As for lovely Arterton, she will play Capa's partner Gerda Taro, and here's what she had to say about the whole thing:
“This year's been intense, but next year's going to be intenser! I'm attached to about nine projects but I'm not sure which one's I'm allowed to talk about. But I'm aiming for even more diversity. Capa is confirmed so I should be working with your hottest actor, Andy Garfield!”
Michael Mann will be in the director's chair and the film will be an adaptation of Susanna Forte's novel Waiting for Robert Capa.
At this moment, still no release date and it is not yet set up at a studio.
As usual, we'll keep an eye on this one, so stay tuned!
