The Master, you remember that one for sure, so let's update the whole thing. First of all, it's actually going to be Paul Thomas Anderson‘s next project! Second, Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman are so far set to star in it. And, third, The Weinstein Company has picked up the worldwide distribution rights to the film.

So, we know that The Weinstein Company has won a battle for worldwide distribution rights to the untitled next film by Paul Thomas Anderson.
As we previously reported, the working title of this movie is The Master, and it will follow “a charismatic intellectual who hatches a faith-based organization that begins to catch on in America in 1952.
The core is the relationship between the Master and Freddie, a twentysomething drifter who becomes the leader's lieutenant.
As the faith begins to gain a fervent following, Freddie finds himself questioning the belief system he has embraced, and his mentor,” till, as Deadline reports, earlier drafts of the story were overtly based on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, but that has changed.
Now, we know that Phoenix is definitely set to play Freddie Sutton, an alcoholic drifter who becomes right-hand man to Lancaster Dodd, a charismatic intellectual known as The Master (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman).
On the other hand, it looks that Anderson is considering actresses Madisen Beaty, Amy Adams, Lena Endre and Laura Dern for roles in the film as well.
Production on the film is set to begin June 13th, so we definitely expect to hear more updates on this one as soon as possible. Make sure to stay tuned!
This is imho truly an exciting film project. This new film directed by the superb director P.T.Anderson. His films are provocative. They dare the filmgoer to think and not merely to sit back and watch. They are thoughtful, incisive and at least equally important made with great care. His films are made for the sophisticated film goer who is seeking, well made , intelligent films with terrific production value all around. These include among others “Magnolia, ” “Boogie Nights”, “Punch Drunk Love “, his most recent “There will be Blood.” And now “Untitled” What a wonderful name for a movie. Just kidding. Seriously with Paul Thomas Anderson at the helm and the actors Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix this looks like a winner. The director is known for his meticulousness. I suppose that’s one of the reasons for the proposed 2013 release date. The other factors being editing, distribution concerns etc I’m just hoping the changes made to the script weren’t the result from pressure from Hollywood Scientologists.
