Whenever there is a news of another Lord of the Rings movie in the making, the audience is alwaysexpectant. The latest addition is The Hunt for Gollum, which is supposed to provide a new insight into the mysterious character and his world, which is definitely exciting for the fans. But the question on everyone's mind: Will any of the cast members from the original movie come back for the sequel?

Without any doubt, Ian McKellen who played Gandalf turned into one of the most beloved characters in the cinematic history. At 85, McKellen has recently said that he might consider taking on the role if he is still “alive” when the time comes. It was only in an interview with The Times that he admitted, “There is no script, there is no offer, there is no plan. ” Although he followed this with a humorous response, and is currently busy portraying Falstaff in a Shakespearean production, it seems he is keen to don the wizard's hat again.

Such expectation does not end with McKellen. It is also important to note that Viggo Mortensen, who portrayed Aragorn, has stated a certain inclination to come back for the sequel if the conditions will be suitable for him. This double dose of nostalgia has made fans want more faces they know on the screen more than ever before.

The original three films and the Hobbit series were directed by Peter Jackson, but now the director's seat belongs to Andy Serkis. Serkis, known for the Gollum performance, will try to develop the latter's mysterious background. According to Jackson, the cause of fascination with Gollum is in his duality and he has a point in saying there is a part of all of us in him.

The details regarding the actors and dates of the movie release are still shrouded in mystery, but the possibility of watching beloved characters come back to the big screen is stirring up interest. To quote Jackson, future developments will draw their inspiration from Tolkien's vast mythology.

Are you looking forward to seeing Ian McKellen as Gandalf again? Which other characters from the Lord of the Rings universe would you like to included in The Hunt for Gollum? The journey goes on and hopefully; the fans are going to get what they want soon.
