An international trailer for Columbia Pictures' live-action/animated hybrid The Smurfs has debuted. The film stars Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays (Heroes, Glee) as a young couple who find the Smurfs lost in New York City and decide to help them get back home after the evil wizard Gargamel chased them out of their village, and into our world.
The Smurfs features the voices of Katy Perry (as Smurfette), Star Trek's Anton Yelchin (as Clumsy Smurf), The Office's B.J. Novak (as Baker Smurf), X-Men's Alan Cumming (as Gutsy Smurf), George Lopez (as Grouchy Smurf), Jonathan Winters (as Papa Smurf), and Hank Azaria (as Gargamel).
Scooby-Doo director Raja Gosnell takes the helm for this 3D live action/CGI comedy based on the popular characters created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo (aka Pierre Culliford).
The Smurfs is due out in theaters on August 3rd, 2011.
