End of Watch is an upcoming David Ayer‘s project, described as “a gritty cop drama” and according to the latest reports, Jake Gyllenhaal is in early discussions to star in it!
Unfortunately, at this moment, not much is known about the plot of the whole thing, but it's definitely nice to hear that Gyllenhaal is considered for the story that will follow “the friendship between longtime partners.”
Ayer and John Lesher will produce through Ayer's Crave Films and Lesher's Le Grisbi Prods.
As we said at the beginning, David Ayer is on board as a director, but he's responsible for the story as well.
Ayer is probably best known from titles like Training Day, S.W.A.T., Harsh Times and The Fast and the Furious. He most recently directed Street Kings, with Keanu Reeves.
On the other hand, Gyllenhaal starred in Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time last summer, and this month we'll have a chance to see him in Summit's sci-fi thriller Source Code.
Gyllenhaal has been mentioned as a contender for the lead in The Bourne Legacy, the latest rendition of the Universal franchise, so we'll definitely have to wait for more updates.
