A couple of months ago, the
youngest-ever Best Actress nominee Quvenzhané Wallis was tapped to star in
Will Gluck‘s new take on
Annie. Now comes word that the
Django Unchained star
Jamie Foxx is in talks to star opposite Wallis in the Sony remake.
If he would say ‘yes' to the role, Foxx, who is currently starring in a
huge upcoming Sony tentpole, would play a character named Benjamin Stacks, who is ‘a variation of the Daddy Warbucks personage.'
He takes in the spunky orphan girl being played by Wallis because he's rich and his name literally means stacks of $100 bills, aka Benjamins.
Emma Thompson and
Aline Brosh McKenna recently revised a script, while
Will Smith and
Jay-Z are tied to the film as producers.
Sony is eyeing a late fall production start for a Christmas Day 2014 release for the film that will be drawing on both the hit Broadway musical and the original comic strips.
Foxx will be seen later this summer in the action flick
White House Down and is also developing a horror series for SyFy.
Stay tuned for more updates.
