Jimmi Simpson has finished out the cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. He joins a list that includes Ben Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie and Mary Elisabeth Winstead.
The actor will play Josh Speed, Lincoln's near friend and personal assistant which is historically correct, except the demon parts in the movie — Speed will fight with Lincoln, played by Benjamin Walker, and murder vampires.
Story centers on the president who after having his mother slaughtered by monsters, is on a mission to relieve the world of vampires.
Simpson has guest starred in episodes of CSI, “House and Psych,” and has a recurring role on “The Late Show with David Letterman” as “Lyle the Intern”. After that he appeared in The Invention of Lying, directed by Ricky Gervais, The Mother of Invention and Date Night, alongside Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Simpson made a remarkable role in creepy McPoyle brother he plays on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The actor can be seen next in “Breakout Kings.”
Timur Bekmatebov will direct a Seth Grahame-Smith‘s adaptation of his own novel. Tim Burton and Jim Lemley will produce.
According to Slashfilm, producer Jim Lemley spoke at the University of Idaho and informally revealed some details about his current project, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.” Ben Walker looks amazing as Lincoln in the photos shown; they did a great job of dressing him up into an exactly right image of Lincoln. Walker will be portraying Lincoln from ages 22-death. And it's rumored that Joaquin Phoenix is the one he still wants to see, despite Phoenix is not a lock for the role of Henry Sturgess.
The whole film will be shot in 3D with production set to start in March with Fox releasing it on June 22, 2012.
