I was a little bit sceptic when I first heard that Nicole Kidman is on board for Lee Daniels‘ The Paperboy together with Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey.
Why? I have no idea, somehow it sounded strange to me. Especially after I learned that she's actually playing Efron's character love interest. Or something like that.
But now, when I look at these completely new images from the whole thing – I see there's a possibility I was wrong.
As we previously reported, The Paperboy is based on the 1995 novel by Pete Dexter, and is Florida-set period pic about two brothers, a reporter (McConaughey) and a college dropout (Efron), who team up to investigate a possible miscarriage of justice surrounding a death row inmate convicted of killing the local sheriff.
The rest of the cast looks pretty cool as well. We have John Cusack playing the inmate, David Oyelowo playing character named Yardley, as well as Scott Glenn who also co-stars.
The Paperboy plays In Competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival which runs from May 16-27.
