Liv Tyler is set to star in an upcoming HBO’s The Leftovers. Not hard to guess that Tyler comes on board to play the female lead in Damon Lindelof‘s drama which already stars Justin Theroux and will be directed by Peter Berg.
This definitely sounds promising, especially because the project would mark Tyler’s first small-screen regular role.
The Leftovers is actually an adaptation of Tom Perrotta’s novel of the same name, which revolves around a group of people who don’t make the cut after the Rapture occurs.
In other words – Theroux is set to play the police chief and father of two, named Kevin Garvey. He’s trying maintain some semblance of normalcy in a world that is starting to completely reject the notion. Tyler, on the other hand, comes on board to play Meg, a young woman about to be married who needs an escape. She soon becomes a target for recruitment by members of an enigmatic cult.
As we said at the beginning of this report, Peter Berg is set to direct the pilot from a script co-written by Perrotta and Lindelof, and the rest of The Leftovers cast will include Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Ann Dowd and Amanda Warren.
We’ll keep an eye on all of them.
