Watch: First Clip From Steven Knight’s LOCKE, Starring Tom Hardy

LOCKE It’s not like you’re going to see something spectacular from this first Locke clip, but I’m sure that Tom Hardy‘s fans will have nothing against this short video. In case you forgot, we’re talking about Steven Knight‘s upcoming real-time thriller which stars Hardy as a guy whose life is unraveling right after he recieves a strange phone call. Head inside to take a look… LOCKE Image Written and directed by Knight, this drama thriller will tell us the story of a man named Ivan Locke whose life is unraveling in a tension-fuelled ninety minute race against time. In other words, Hardy plays Ivan Locke, who has the perfect family, his dream job, and… well almost the perfect life. But one phone call will force him to make a decision that will put it all on the line. Described as a unique cinematic experience that literally puts the audience in the passenger’s seat to watch the driver’s life unfold, Locke is scheduled to be shown out of competition at the 70th Venice International Film Festival. Beside Hardy, Locke also stars Tom HollandOlivia ColmanAndrew Scott and Ruth Wilson. Here’s the official synopsis:
Ivan Locke has worked hard to craft a good life for himself. Tonight, that life will collapse around him. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, Ivan receives a phone call that sets in motion a series of events that will unravel his family, job, and soul.
And, here’s the clip and Knight’s statement:
It was a joy and challenge to make Locke in an entirely different way. Shot in real time, Locke breaks new ground in movie making with Hardy holding the screen alone while the camera never blinks. The night time highway is part back drop, part art installation, as a stellar cast play the people Ivan loves and hates and who witness his extraordinary journey to despair and ultimately to redemption. A man’s life transformed in a half a tank of gas. I believe the journey of Ivan Locke is deeply moving and utterly compulsive.
