Martin Scorsese’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret in 3D
Ok, we knew this was coming. He sure is a legendary filmmaker, but he's definitely “in” when it comes to this 3D-mania, so no wonder today we have this kind of information to share with you: Martin Scorsese‘s is all set to make his first 3D movie The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
Nothing to be surprised about guys, we already mentioned that something like this could happen, so there you go…
Just for a record, we are NOT trying to sound disappointed, no way! We definitely know that Scorsese has all experience in the world, and that he's clever enough to make something really speciall (even from 3D), so we're signing in for this project!
He, on the other hand seems to be very excited about this 3D thing, and we're going to remind you what he previously said: “..if the camera move is going to be a 3D effect, it has to be for dramatic purposes – not just throwing spears at the audience. And that, maybe I can't do that. Maybe my daughter's generation, she's 10 now, can think that way.”
So, interesting story is coming, and this time it's going to be an adaptation of Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
We are here to remind you of this book official description: “Orphan, clock keeper, and thief, Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric, bookish girl and a bitter old man who runs a toy booth in the station, Hugo's undercover life, and his most precious secret, are put in jeopardy. A cryptic drawing, a treasured notebook, a stolen key, a mechanical man, and a hidden message from Hugo's dead father form the backbone of this intricate, tender, and spellbinding mystery.”
We must admit that this already sounds like something that must be done in 3D, and we can already imagine how some parts of this story would look like on big screen.
On the other hand, Scorsese definitely gathered around himself some interesting team!
We could start with John Logan who penned the screenplay adaptation of Selznick's bestselling children's novel, and continue with quite immpressing cast list like Sacha Baron Cohen as the inspector, Ben Kingsley as the old man, Asa Butterfield as the titular Hugo Cabret and that super girl Chloe Moretz will play “an eccentric, bookish girl” who comes into Hugo's life as he navigates the Parisian train station where he lives.
So, as you see, it looks like nothing could go wrong, and we're kind of satisfied that Scorsese decided to make a children's movie for the first time.
It won't be long before we're back with some new infos, because The Invention of Hugo Cabret is expected to hit theatres in December 2011, and we already have an information that the project will begin production in London in June this year. So, stay tuned!
