Yesterday we
reported that
Eva Mendes is officially on board for
Ryan Gosling‘s directorial debut
How To Catch a Monster, and today comes the word that
Matt Smith (
Doctor Who) is set to star in the whole thing as well! Smith will join the cast which (beside Mendes) also includes
Christina Hendricks,
Ben Mendelsohn and
Rob Zabrecky, and that, my friends, sounds like a pretty good company!
Written and directed by
Ryan Gosling, the project has already been described as a modern day fairytale set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city.
It will center on Hendricks' character – a woman named Billy who finds herself in a gloomy fantasy underworld. When her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town – they must investigate the whole thing in order to save their family.
As we previously reported, Mendes is set to play character named Cat, Zabrecky will play a cab driver while
Matt Smith comes on board to play the male lead (
Billy's son, or what?)
Anyway, production on
How To Catch a Monster is set to start this spring, so make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
