Michael Fassbender To Star In Genius?
We all remember him from Inglourious Basterds, so we definitely know he's good!
So, no wonder we'll have a chance to see him starring in Genius, an upcoming Bill Pohlad directed drama that already has Sean Penn attached to star.
Movie is an adaptation of the National Book Award-winning non-fiction book Max Perkins: Editor of Genius.
The story focuses on Perkins' relationship with Thomas Wolfe, who's often cited as one of the 20th century's greatest writers (and is a favorite of several Playlist staffers).
Wolfe was a great writer, but a notoriously undisciplined one, and the two fought constantly – Perkins convinced the author to cut 90,000 words from his first novel, “Look Homeward, Angel,” and battled for two years over the length of the second.
Wolfe eventually grew resentful of how much of his success was being attributed to Perkins and left the publishing house.
So, Penn is set to star as the great literary agent Max Perkins, who influenced and coached many of the 21st century's greatest authors, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Wolfe.
On the other hand, we guess that Fassbender will play Thomas Wolfe, who fought constantly with Perkins over the length and content of his work.
Genius is being scripted by John Logan (Gladiator), and we definitely expect to hear more details about it, so make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
