THE DESCENT Theatrical Trailer
Neil Marshall to Direct New Horror Film
CBS Films announced back in July, they have nabbed feature rights to William Penick and Chris Sey‘s original horror screenplay from a concept by Valhalla's Ben Roberts.
Now Neil Marshall is in early talks to direct Hellfest, a horror project about a costumed killer who systematically slaughters the unsuspecting visitors who come to a huge amusement on Halloween night believing it's all part of the show.
A night of fun that quickly turns tragic starts production by the summer of 2012, according to studio plans. Of course, they would like to see their horror film turned into a successful franchise.
If Marshall does sign on to direct, this would be his first since the release of 2010′s disappointing Centurion. But, his critically acclaimed film Descent is maybe one of the more effective horror pictures in the past decade. Not to mention his first feature film Dog Soldiers, which became a cult film. All those facts make the horror genre a good fit for his talents.
While Hellfest would be Marshall's next movie, he is currently finishing touches on his directorial effort for Blackwater, an episode in the HBO's Game of Thrones, based on the popular series of epic fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin.
