A new image has surfaced of
Johnny Depp and
Eva Green as Barnabas Collins and Angelique Bouchard, from
Tim Burton‘s
Dark Shadows, the cinematic update of creator Dan Curtis's beloved gothic soap opera that originally aired weekdays on the ABC from 1966-1970.
In the flick, Collins is described as a rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy who is the master of Collinwood Manor until he makes a grave mistake of breaking the heart of Bouchard, a witch who dooms him to a fate worse than death; turning him into a vampire and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Collins is inadvertently freed from his tomb. He emerges into a very changed world of 1972 and returns to Collinwood Manor only to find his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. He must now have some disagreements with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts.
Furthermore, Barnabas Collins is featured in an expo promo poster for La Cinematheque Francaise after a successful U.S. tour.
Dark Shadows is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 11th, 2012. The supernatural thriller will mark Burton's eighth go-round with his longtime pal Depp. Joining Depp and Green the film's all-star ensemble cast includes
Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley, Chloe Moretz and
Jonny Lee Miller.
