Olga Kurylenko in Empires of the Deep 3D China Project

Olga Kurylenko Empires of the Deep – maybe this doesn’t sound like something familiar to you, but, trust us, this is huge, actually, this is the biggest 3D film in production in China! If you wonder how huge, than let us tell you it’s budgeted at $100 million. How about that? And, today, we have a news that Olga Kurylenko and Avatar virtual camera operator Anthony Arendt have joined the production team of China-US co-production of above mentioned project. The story goes like this. Set in ancient Greece, Empires of the Deep: “tells about a young man’s adventure in the undersea mermaid kingdom in order to save his father, while encountering ferocious sea monsters and gets involved in large-scale battles in the seabed between mermaids, monsters and demons.” You already guess, after Quantum of Solace and Centurion, we’ll have a chance to watch Kurylenko in this big project, as the Queen of the Mermaid Empire, opposite lead actor Steve Polites and Chinese actress Yanfei Shi. This project is currently filming in Beijing, and as we mentioned, it’s the biggest 3D film in production in China. This fantasy adventure is co-directed by Michael French (that we all remember from Heart of a Dragon) and Jonathan Lawrence (The Family Mancuso and Dream Parlor) from a script by Frank Randall and Jon Jiang. Anthony Arendt will be a stereography consultant and will be working on-site with French and director of photography Rao Xiaobingon 3D stereography. His name is well-known, since he was virtual camera operator in James Cameron‘s Avatar, so we could now just guess if Empires of the Deep is going to be as (or even more) successful than Avatar. It definitely looks like they’re expecting it to be next big box office champion, but we’ll just have to wait and see how the things will work out for this interesting project. We’re interested in this story, and with every new information about Empires of the Deep we’ll be right here. So, guys, stay tuned!
