In Scott Cooper‘s upcoming Out of the Furnace thriller, Christian Bale stars as a steelworker named Russell Baze who, after his brother mysteriously disappears, takes matters into his own hands to find justice. Unfortunately, these (first) photos have nothing to do with that “gripping & gritty dramatic film about fate, circumstance, and justice” description. Head inside to take a look…
Still, one thing is for sure – Cooper’s movie definitely has an awesome cast on board. In case you forgot, beside Bale and Woody Harrelson, Out of the Furnace also stars Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Sam Shepard and Zoe Saldana.
Crazy Heart helmer directs the whole thing from his own script which revolves around Bale’s Russell guy and his younger brother Rodney, played by Affleck, who live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives.
But everything will change thanks to:
…a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.
Doesn’t sound bad at all, but I definitely hope we’ll soon have more updates (read: more pics and at least some teaser) to share. After all, the movie is already set to hit limited theaters on November 27th, 2013.
