To be honest – Paul Giamatti is set to play a possibly insane detective in FX's upcoming drama pilot titled Hoke. But that's pretty much the same thing, because the project will reportedly tell us the story of mid-life crisis. You know what I mean – that's the perfect time to get insane. Anyway, this definitely sounds promising, check out the rest of this report to see why.
At this moment we know that Scott Frank is in charge for the script, and that he will also serve as scribe and helmer on the pilot episode of this darkly comedic drama, which is based on Charles Willeford's series of novels “Sideswipe,” “New Hope for the Dead” and “The Way We Die Now.”
Described as a noir comedy, the project will revolve around Giamatti's character, a hard-boiled and possibly insane homicide detective in 1985 Miami, named Hoke Moseley. And, unfortunately all we know about the plot at this moment, but you have nothing to worry about – production is set to begin in Miami later this year, so we'll soon have more updates to share.

Let us also add that Giamatti, Frank, Curtis Hanson, Carol Fenelon and Dan Carey are executive producers on the project.
