Percy Jackson-Sea of Monsters I’ll say it again — If you’re greatly looking forward to the Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters release, today is your lucky day! After a couple months the second full trailer has arrived, and it looks like a Nickelodeon version of Clash of the Titans meets Harry Potter. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for a target audience. This trailer actually looks pretty fun. The Thor Freudenthal-directed sequel to 2010s Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief finds our hero Logan Lerman as the son of Poseidon who must protect Camp Half-Blood from destruction. The only way to do that is to team up with Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) and goat-like satyr Grover (Brandon T. Jackson), in addition to some new friends, to find the mythical Golden Fleece, as well as to free a friend who has been captured there. Penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, Sea of Monsters also stars the likes of Nathan Fillion, Douglas Smith, Leven Rambin, the always stellar, Stanley Tucci and more. The second adventure in the fantasy franchise swims into theaters August 7th, 2013! Hit the jump to check the action sequences as well as an extended look at Fillion as Hermes. Here’s the synopsis:
Percy Jackson has had an unnervingly quiet school year. But then he discovers that the magical borders protecting Half Blood Hill are failing. Unless something is done, the camp will be attacked by demons and monsters. The only way to restore power to the camp’s borders and to save their home is to find the mythical Golden Fleece. And the only who can undertake this dangerous quest are Percy and his friends. Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle), they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate Evil.
