Phil Lord and Chris Miller to Direct Lego Movie
LEGO toys are getting a movie. Ok, before you start with that who cares attitude check this out!
Phil Lord and Chris Miller who directed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs are currently in final negotiations to direct LEGO: The Piece of Resistance movie after impressing both WB and LEGO execs.
Looks like there was some great presentation that convinced all of them to actually invest in something like this. So, get ready for big-screen-toys!
And, of course, the plot is being kept under wraps, but there are some rumors describing it as “an action adventure in the Lego world mixing live action and animation.” And that's it.
The only thing we do know about this project is that Lord and Miller had to run “an impressive gauntlet of both WB and LEGO executives before they could secure the gig.
The pair presented a pitch for the two groups and won them over, going so far as to attend a LEGO convention in Fremont, California to convince the LEGO power players that they were right for the job.”
It turned out to be a good move on their part because the WB and LEGO chiefs weren't sure which medium they were going to adapt it into theaters.
The project is being produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Jill Wilfert at Lego is exec producing.
Anyway, the LEGO is not some kind of big priority, because Lord and Miller are currently working on 21 Jump Street, an adaptation of the '80s TV series.
But, who knows, maybe this could be something interesting to watch after all. Ok, we said – maybe. Stay with us…
