So here's what appears to be a red-band trailer for a cash grab sequel to Pineapple Express, but actually, this is more just a trailer to help promote the upcoming comedy This is the End.
Hey, today's April Fools' day!
Seth Rogen, James Franco, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson play themselves joined by Jonah Hill (playing someone else) in the apocalyptic comedy This is the End and all starred in Pineapple Express.
Rogen said at a Wondercon panel over the weekend where a few clips were shown:
The idea to let us play ourselves was a really hard thing (to sell) …it really rubbed everybody the wrong way in the studio world
he added, saying that he and co-writer and co-director Evan Goldberg basically lied to the studio by telling the filmmakers that they would shoot it so that the meta-concept could be edited out if need be.
Opening in theaters on June 12th, 2013 the comedy also stars Jay Baruchel, Emma Watson, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, Martin Starr, Rihanna, Aziz Ansari, and Kevin Hart.
