From the Mickey Mouse Club to Blue Valentine were highlights that briefly revived a career of Ryan Gosling, Londoner from Ontario.
Aside from acting (Gosling formed the band Dead Man's Bones) multitalented artist will not only play the lead in, but also direct, a remake of vague 1980 Taylor Hackford film The Idolmaker, a project for MGM.
Hackford directed the original for MGM as well, which revolves around the life of rock promoter/producer Bob Marcucci, who discovered Frankie Avalon and Fabian among the others. Ray Sharkey who starred won a Golden Globe Award for his performance as Vincent ‘Vinnie' Vacarri.
Since original was fictionalized there's no word if Gosling's version will be a step closer to the truth. Obviously it is a bit thin on the ground at the moment.
Ryan Gosling will next be seen in Hollywood stuntman drama Drive and in freshly completed comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
The 30 year old thesp also won the lead role in Warner Bros' Logan's Run remake in February.
