Road to Perdition Sequel

Fiona August 11, 2011 Add a Comment
Ok guys, today we’re here to share with you the latest Hollywood news with you. The Road to Perdition The Road to Perdition sequel, titled Road to Purgatory is finally moving forward and “it may now be right around the corner”! That’s exactly what writer Max Allan Collins said. What we know at this moment is that the sequel would focus “on Michael Sullivan Jr., the son of Tom Hanks‘ character, who returns home from World War II, seeking out vengeance for the death of his father.” Let us remind you of The Road to Perdition story: Mike Sullivan (Tom Hanks) works as a hit man for crime boss John Rooney (Paul Newman) and his dangerously inept offspring Connor Rooney (Daniel Craig). Sullivan views Rooney as a father figure. However, after his son is witness to a killing he has done Mike Sullivan finds him self on the run trying to save the life of his son, Micheal Jr., and at the same time looking for revenge on those who wronged him. Jude Law (as Harlen Maguire) stars as a hit man hired to kill Sullivan. Here’s what Collins, whose Road To Perdition graphic novel was adapted by director Sam Mendes as a 2002 DreamWorks feature, had to say about the whole project: “I can only tease, I’m afraid. We seem to be right on the brink, or maybe it’s the precipice, I don’t know, of a deal being signed. Things have gotten very, very serious and I have, for years, held onto it as a project I would direct, because I have directed five independent films. It does look like, now, that I won’t be directing, but it is my script. That’s the most important thing to me, that the material be faithfully rendered. That isn’t to say that you have to do it absolutely faithfully. There certainly are differences between my graphic novel and Road to Perdition, but the spirit of the story is there. Mendes really got it and understood it and, I think that, in some ways, enhanced it.” Collins’ name has been removed from the list of contenders, but there’s no one else attached to direct at the moment. Still, he added that they are very close to signing a director and moving forward. And when that happens, you’ll be the first to know about it! Stay tuned!
