Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and
Ashton Kutcher are in negotiations to star in
New Year’s Eve .
Lea Michele (Glee) and
Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) are already on board the production
Actually, this New Line’s love story is unofficial sequel to
Garry Marshall‘s
Valentine’s Day movie.
Like the previous (Valentine’s Day) holiday-themed romantic comedy formula, New Year’s Eve will tell the intertwining story of several characters over the course of the December 31st evening.
According to
THR, “De Niro will play a bitter dying man in a hospital, while Pfeiffer will be a frustrated executive secretary who decides to tackle her unfulfilled resolutions.
Swank would play a producer of the famed Times Square New Year’s Eve show. Kutcher would play a guy who hates New Year’s Eve.”
Lea Michele is playing a professional back-up singer who gets stuck in an elevator with a hipster she doesn’t like a first but ultimately falls for him.
Abigail Breslin is also a member of the cast, but her character description is still unknown.
Reese Witherspoon (as a pregnant woman attempting to have the year’s first baby),
Justin Bieber, Halle Berry and
Zac Efron are rumored to star in the movie.
Garry Marshall will direct
New Year’s Eve, while Mike Karz and Wayne Rice are producing.
Filming is scheduled to shoot next month in New York and the release is expected for a December 2011.
