When Robert Rodriguez announced his “Predator” remake there was also mention of another film, “Machete” which will be going forward this summer it seems.
Rodriguez will create a feature out of the blade- wielding antihero who appeared in a mock trailer that was part of “Grindhouse.” Rodriguez wrote the feature script and will direct the film alongside Ethan Maniquis, his longtime editor.
Danny Trejo will reprise his role from the trailer. “Machete” will follow the title character, an ex-Federale who now hides out as a day laborer after a corrupt politician double-crossed him.
The tag line for the original trailer was: “This time, they f**ked with the wrong Mexican.” Not immediately clear is whether they will find a way to use this irresistible marketing slogan that appeared in the “Grindhouse” trailer.
