Sandra Bullock, who has made a career out of being Hollywood's good girl, has been set to provide the supervillain voice in
Minions, the
Illumination Entertainment spinoff of the
Despicable Me franchise. The Oscar-winning actress will voice Scarlet Overkill, a woman with an ambition for world domination.
Set in the 1960s, the 3D-CG comedy
Minions has three of the creatures going to a villain convention to find a new master, and compete to get the job from Overkill, an Aubrey Hepburn-inspired character who aspires to be the world's first female supervillain.
Bullock is the only actor attached to voice the film that will be directed by
Pierre Coffin and
Kyle Balda from the script written by
Brian Lynch.
The little yellow, pill-shaped, trash-speaking Minions will next be seen in this summer's
Despicable Me 2, out July 3rd, 2013, while their own film
Minions, is due out in 3D on December 19th, 2014.
As for Bullock, she next stars with
Melissa McCarthy in the Paul Feig-directed R-rated action-comedy
The Heat, out June 28th, and then the
Alfonso Cuaron-directed
Gravity, which has finally scored an October 4th, 2013.
