SEDUCED AND ABANDONED by James Toback, Cannes 2013
I'm sure you're all familiar with the upcoming Seduced and Abandoned title, a feature documentary which comes from director James Toback. In case you've missed our previous reports, the film will be screened at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival (Special Screening section) and is already being described as an intimate story and a rather ambitious political drama mix.
Today we're here to share the first images from the movie, head inside to check them all out…
Seduced and Abandoned combines acting legend Alec Baldwin with Oscar-nominated director Toback as they lead us on a troublesome and often hilarious journey of raising financing for their next feature film.
Moving from director to financier to star actor, the two players provide us with a unique look behind the curtain at the world's biggest and most glamorous film festival, shining a light on the bitter-sweet relationship filmmakers have with Cannes and the film business.
Or, as Toback previously explained:
“The film idea was generated by conversations Alec and I have had over a long period of time and we decided we'd go to Cannes and shoot a record of our quest to find money to make a movie, which in effect is not a movie we're definitely making, but rather one we will make in the future if we raise the money for it here.”
Featuring insights from directors Martin Scorsese, Bernando Bertolucci and Roman Polanski, actors Ryan Gosling and Jessica Chastain (and a host of film distribution luminaries), Seduced and Abandoned will be screened at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from 15 to 26 May 2013.
