Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy is attached to write and direct a musical comedy One Hit Wonders that already finding a home at Sony and has lined up Beyonce, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Andy Samberg and Reese Witherspoon to star.
Murphy will co-write the script with his Glee co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
The story will find Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz playing singers who had a few hit songs in the 1990s, before watching their careers go down the drain, and then team up to form a super group. Samberg and his Lonely Island cohorts Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer will be reportedly involved in creating music for the musical.
Murphy previously also made a big deal with Sony for a follow-up to Eat Pray Love he’ll direct with Julia Roberts.
The plan is for Murphy to make the musical after he finishes the AIDS drama The Normal Heart with Julia Roberts again, along with Alec Baldwin, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer and Jim Parsons set to star.
