A movie about little plastic blocks known as LEGO will become a reality along with Batman and Superman characters that will both appear in Warner Bros. upcoming 3D film,
Lego: The Piece of Resistance.
Directed by 21 Jump Street helmers
Phil Lord and
Christopher Miller along with Chris McKay (Robot Chicken), the big screen adaptation has snagged
Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) and
Will Arnett, while Lord and Miller‘s 21 Jump Street star,
Channing Tatum, is being pursued.
The second and third of them would play Batman and Superman; Pratt has signed to voice the film's lead Lego figure, an ordinary, law-abiding mini-figure named Emmet who is mistaken for the most extraordinary MasterBuilder.
He's drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
Lord and Miller commented on the project a few months back on how exactly the Lego versions of Batman and Superman will fit into the film:
It involves many worlds. Basically, the least qualified Lego characters in the universe having to keep the world from being frozen together.
Lego: The Piece of Resistance is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2014.
