It's actually official – Superman and Batman will share the big screen for the first time in Zack Snyder‘s explosive new film. At this moment we know that Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay, and what definitely sounds promising is that production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015! Anyone surprised?
Well… keep in mind the box-office success of Man of Steel, which took in more than $630 million worldwide. Things began to clear up now? Good.
Now let us also mention that Henry Cavill will reprise his Superman role, while the new Batman has yet to be cast. According to the official announcement – also returning from Man of Steel are Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
Snyder revealed that the film will not be adapted from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and also said:
I know there's been a lot of speculation about what we're doing. It's official that we are going to make another Superman movie. I sort of pored through the DC universe to look for a way to tell this thing … and I came across a thing that I feel sort of sums it up.
Then, he also added:
Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world.
Man of Steel producers Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are returning as producers, and Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers on the upcoming Batman-Superman film, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.
