Sylvester Stallone to Play Mob Boss John Gotti?

Our eyes are still on reports about his The Expendables and he’s already jumping into something completely new. So, don’t be so surprised to hear that Sylvester Stallone is in talks with John Gotti Jr, son of the infamous mob boss, John Gotti, to portray the mafia leader in a bio-pic. Ok, maybe it’s not Stallone playing some heroic characters that we’re all used to, but we have nothing against him as murderous mafia boss. Do we? So, our Rambo star is in negotiations with Gotti’s son ‘Junior’ John Gotti to turn his memories about his strained relationship with his father into a big screen project. Reports suggest that Stallone will play the role of Gotti, as well as produce and direct the film. So far we had a chance to hear a rumor that Junior (who was, by the way, released from prison in 2005 after serving time for racketeering) is now very close to signing a deal with Stallone, and that word comes from Bill Stanton, who set up the meeting. He told that “although a deal hasn’t been signed yet they are in serious negotiations. For John, this is a story about redemption, about how he wants to move on. This isn’t a mob story, this is a love story between a father and a son, and the family business, which happened to be “The Family” business.” If you’re not so familiar with this story, let us mention that John Gotti, also known as Teflon Don for his escapes from the law, was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1992, after being convicted of 13 murders, loansharking and tax evasion amongst others, but died 10 years later from cancer. So we have no reason asking ourselves if this story is good enough for a big screen adaptation, right? We’ll keep an eye on this project, for sure. With every new update, we’ll be back, and in the mean time, for all Stallone fans out there, Sly next stars in The Expendables with Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jet Li among others. Stay tuned!
