Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars ‘Safe and Sound'
Taylor Swift, The Decembrists and Arcade Fire on The Hunger Games Album
Let me start by quoting Taylor Swift who has contributed a song to the companion album for The Hunger Games movie. Swift tweeted a message to her fans thanking them for taking ‘Safe and Sound' to the top of the iTunes chart on Christmas Eve, describing the news as ‘another beautiful Christmas gift'.
In fact, she along with Win Butler, T Bone Burnett, the Civil Wars, the Decemberists and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire have all contributed songs to the companion album for Lionsgate's upcoming franchise tentpole.
The album's produced by Burnett and will come out in advance of the film's wide release from March 23rd, 2012.
Multi award-winning country musician Swift collaborated with the Civil Wars and Burnett on a track entitled ‘Safe and Sound', launched on iTunes on Friday.
Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, who won the 2011 Grammy for album of the year, have written a song with Burnett entitled ‘Horn Of Plenty', and the Decemberists did their own song, ‘One Engine'.
Though it was reported earlier this year that Danny Elfman would be teaming with T Bone Burnett he had departed from working on The Hunger Games score because of scheduling conflicts (currently working on Men in Black III and Dark Shadows) and was replaced by James Newton Howard (The Dark Knight).
The adaption of Suzanne Collins novel is directed by Gary Ross and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson among the others.
How's your Christmas?
