The film will star Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L.Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
The Avengers will be directed by Joss Whedon and is expected to hit theaters on May 4, 2012.

The script SLJ is reading is the Avengers intro synopsis. It’s sort of like their “Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive” for Superman. So it’d be a much bigger deal if you read the comics, much like how awesome Abin Sur looked in the preview shots if you knew who he was. Otherwise it’s as obtuse and plain as you could imagine.
