Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott and Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men) have joined forces in the motion picture thriller THE COUNSELOR, starring Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz. McCarthy, making his screenwriting debut and Scott interweave the author's characteristic wit and dark humor with a nightmarish scenario, in which a respected lawyer's dalliance with an illegal business deal spirals out of control.
THE COUNSELOR First U.S. Trailer
The first U.S. teaser trailer for Ridley Scott‘s upcoming The Counselor was released online. It's not a wildly different trailer from what we've seen before, but it adds some new dialogue at the beginning.
New Fox 2000 thriller looks sort of like No Country for Old Men just because a 2007 American thriller is based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name and The Counselor is McCarthy's first original screenplay as well.
Michael Fassbender stars as a a present-day upstanding lawyer who gets himself into a world of trouble after entering the drug trade and coming in contact with some strange characters (Brad Pitt) and outright villainous types (Javier Bardem) as things only get worse and worse.
The movie also stars Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Dean Norris, John Leguizamo and Natalie Dormer.
I'm hopeful this one will be included in the Toronto Film Festival line-up, next Tuesday, July 23rd.
A movie that has slipped completely under my radar is due in theaters on October 25th, 2013.
For now, watch the trailer below.
